WAL-MART TO SERVE AS PRESENTING SPONSOR OF THE 2ND ANNUAL GULF COAST INTERNATIONAL DRAGON BOAT REGATTA

HOUSTON (Sept13, 2005) The Texas Dragon Boat Association (TDBA) is pleased to announce Wal-Mart will serve as the Presenting Sponsor for the 2nd annual Gulf Coast International Dragon Boat Regatta at Clear Lake Park on October 22-23, 2005.

More than 350 Houston-area employees representing 14 Wal-Mart teams will compete against other corporate, community and visiting teams in the 2005 United States Dragon Boat Federation Central Region Championships. Winners in various categories will also qualify for the 2006 Club Crew World Championships in Toronto.

"At Wal-Mart we celebrate diversity 365 days a year," said Joy Wooden, Director of Wal-Mart Diversity Relations. "We are proud to be a Presenting Sponsor for the 2005 Gulf Coast International Dragon Boat Regatta, knowing that this event will help increase awareness of Asian and Asian- American culture, and enhance cross-cultural understanding."

Dragon boats are elaborately decorated 47-foot-long vessels crewed by 20 paddlers, one drummer and one steersperson. Corporate, community, police/fire, municipal, breast cancer survivor and youth teams are invited to participate in races on Saturday and Sunday, October 22-23, 2005. The Regatta is sanctioned as the 2005 USDBF Central Region Championships & ADBA International Festival. Teams will compete for industry Cups, the Texas Cup, and overall International Cup, as well as recognition as 2005 Central Region Champions.

Texas Dragon Boat Association

The Texas Dragon Boat Association is a 501(c)(3) Texas non-profit corporation established to promote the tradition and sport of dragon boating, increase awareness of Asian and Asian American culture, and enhance cross-cultural understanding.
