Texas Dragon Boat Association Announces Honorary Co-Chairs of 7th Annual Houston Dragon Boat Festival

HOUSTON (January 15, 2007) --The Texas Dragon Boat Association (TDBA) is pleased to name the Honorable M.J. Khan, Houston City Council Member District F and Bob Eury, President, Central Houston, Inc. as Honorary Co-Chairs of the 7th annual Houston Dragon Boat Festival.

 “I am honored to be part of this unique cultural and sporting event,” said Honorary Co-Chair and Houston City Council member M.J. Khan. “The festival is a great way Houstonians can celebrate Asian culture and discover the natural beauty of the bayou.”
Corporate, breast cancer survivor, community and youth teams will compete Saturday, May 5, 2007 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Buffalo Bayou at Allen’s Landing. The festival features live entertainment including music, dance, children's activities and a variety of Asian and American cuisine. Admission is free.

“The Houston Dragon Boat festival has grown to become one of downtown Houston’s premiere sporting events and is the perfect complement to the recent improvements and revitalization of this historic waterway,” said Festival Co-Chair and Central Houston President Bob Eury.

Texas Dragon Boat Association

The Texas Dragon Boat Association is a 501(c)(3) Texas non-profit corporation established to promote the tradition and sport of dragon boating, increase awareness of Asian and Asian American culture, and enhance cross-cultural understanding. TDBA organizes the Houston Dragon Boat Festival in downtown Houston each May and the Gulf Coast International Dragon Boat Regatta in Bay Area Houston each October.

The American Dragon Boat Association is a volunteer organization dedicated to the promotion of friendship, fun, and education between teams and communities. Its mission is to promote cultural understanding on a worldwide basis and educate the public to the benefits of working together through the sport of dragon boat racing.
