Year-Round Texas Dragon Boat Association Program
This year's Texas Dragon Boat Association Program. If you have not done so already, sign up your team to participate!

Purpose: The purpose of the program is to allow a greater number of teams the ability to participate in the sport of dragon boating.

Who Can Join? The program is open to participants of all levels who want to either learn for the first time or hone existing skills for fun and/or competition.

Where Will We Paddle? Teams will practice in Clear Lake. We will make full use of Clear Lake for conditioning and learning dragon boating techniques.

How Much Does It Cost? The cost for the League is being decided on a per paddler basis and for teams that want to join. We are also working out a structure for paddlers to volunteer time to specific tasks to offset the registration.

Practice Schedule: Practices will focus on four key areas for both paddlers and sternsmen: teamwork, endurance, technique, and strategy. A program has been developed to bring new paddlers up to speed and teach advanced techniques to experienced ones.

Starting a team…

  1. Designate a Team Captain and a Fundraising Captain
  2. Recruit your paddlers (at least 16 people)
  3. Find out more about dragon boating
  4. Read the official rules and safety regulations
  5. Complete the necessary waivers to participate
  6. Review the Program Practice packages and decide which one best suits your team
  7. Sign up for practice times with the team coordinator
  8. TDBA will confirm your team and schedule practice time with our coaches
  9. Come up with a unique team name and have fun
